As the Service Director for the Golden Key Club, Chelsea frequently volunteers with various charities in the Charleston area.  Recently she has participated in repairing damaged homes with Habitat for Humanity.  She  helped paint a house on Make a Difference Day.  Chelsea is currently helping the Golden Key club with a toy drive for Toys for Tots and Operation Christmas Child.

Chelsea also has a part-time job at the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry. Chelsea loves working with children. She also enjoys reading- anything from Shakespeare to Harry Potter. After graduation Chelsea plans to attend law school.  She hope to become a public service lawyer or a child welfare advocate.

As you can tell from her volunteer work record, Chelsea is a huge asset to the Charleston community.

What are you most proud of contributing to your organization?  I am proudest of the fact that I have had the opportunity to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children.  I have been able to make a difference to an individual and to the community. This is so important to me because I believe children are such a vital part of our future.
What is your most memorable volunteer experience?  This past October I worked with Habitat for Humanity rebuilding homes on King Street. When we got there there was no roof on the house we were working on. By lunch we had put a roof on the house. I never thought I could do anything like helping build a roof.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about volunteering?  Do it. Just once. You will be amazed at how good you feel about yourself and about the world.
What are some of your previous volunteer activities?  I have tutored elementary age children, taken part in different reading buddy programs, voluteered at the Children's Museum in Lynchburg, Virginia. I have also volunteered at Wing's for Kids Program as well as participated in C of C's Martin Luther Kiung Challenge last January.
What do you enjoy about your community service work?  Knowing that I am helping someone else makes me believe that one person really can make a difference.
How would your friends or co-workers would describe you?  I hope that they would describe me as capable, caring, and dedicated.
What have you learned about yourself through volunteering?  I  have learned that I have unexpected strengths. I always have had a fear of heights but that did not stop me from building the roof for a home at Habitat for Humanity.
