Katherine Wyatt is a junior at the College of Charleston who works as a volunteer for "From Darkness to Light," a nationally known child abuse prevention organization.  Katherine is also an avid member of The College Republicans  and is proud to be the vice-president of her sorority, Kappa Delta. 

In her spare time, Katherine enjoys staying fit by participating in numerous athletic activities, her favorites being softball and volleyball.  She also enjoys spending time on the beautiful beaches in the Charleston area.  Katherine has a great love for her family and her two dogs, Heidi Marie and Sydney Grace,  who reside  in her hometown of Tampa, Florida.  Those who know Katherine best say that she is outgoing, friendly, humble, and not afraid to step in and help out in any way she can

What are you most proud of contributing to your organization?  Being involved with an organization that makes a difference in the community and in the lives of children.
Where you involved with any previous volunteer activities?   I often volunteer for the Salvation Army around the holidays. I have also done work with the Girl Scouts of America.
What do you enjoy about community service?  Community service forces you to look at the world in a broader perspective.  Helping others in need allows you to see things in a different light.
What is your most memorable volunteer experience?  My most memorable experiences involve being at the fundraisers and watching members of the community donate thousands of dollars to the "From Darkness to Light" organization. Its really great to see such a large group of people all come together for the same cause.
What have you learned about yourself through volunteering?  Working as a volunteer as really made me realize that I am just a part of a much larger world. Its very humbling. I realized the world doesn't revolve around me, yet  by working together, we can make a difference.
How do you think your friends and co-workers would describe you?  Someone who is loyal, loving, headstrong, and cultured. Someone who likes to have fun. 
What would you tell someone who is thinking of volunteering?  Volunteering is a great way to expand you horizons, help others, and challenge yourself.
