What is your most memorable volunteer experience? This experience was probably the least amount of work required, but also one of the most impactful in my life: On the Thanksgiving Food Drive, my sophomore year in high school through the NJROTC program, we arrived at a fairly decent home, but one that definitely showed a need. After the lady of the house received the meal she began to cry a little and, in all sincerity, she said, "If it were not for you guys we would not have a meal." This really touched my heart and put in perspective the true aim of volunteering: to change someone's life by leaving what you touch better than it was simply for the sake of loving people and no more.

What are you most proud of contributing to your organizations? I would say that I am most proud of contributing my passion and initiative. Without a passion for doing something, whatever it may be, it will not reach its full potential impact, and with a passion you can do more than you ever imagined. On the same level, without some initiative nothing will get done, or at least not on time. With initiative everything and more is done.

What do you enjoy most about community service: I most enjoy seeing the newfound joy in the lives of those you have served. There is nothing like changing somebody's life. That experience in itself is worth all the effort.

How do you think your friends and family would describe you? I feel my friends and family would describe me as intelligent, and someone that can accomplish anything that he puts his mind to because he has a passion and a love for people which, other than a passion for God, is the most respected quality to have. They would also say that I am pretty crazy, not afraid to get my hands dirty, won't give up, and anything I do will be excellent as long as it serves some productive purpose.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering? I would say to go right out and do it. There are so many opportunities, and if done with the right motivation of helping others, then the experience will also be very rewarding and fulfilling. Also, start small. You want to get used to volunteering and giving up your time before you give up days of your life and discourage yourself from doing it again. Also, begin to make it a routine in your life. When your life changes and you move or go off to school look for more opportunities that you can passionately serve in and jump at them.

What are your plans after graduation? I still have a good while, but right now I have a couple options that I am considering. I know that I am called to the ministry, so wherever I go that will be my priority. I have a conviction about serving my country, so I would love to serve in the Navy as an officer, going to Officer Candidate School after college and then to graduate school through the Navy. If I am not in the Navy then I will pursue either graduate school or seminary while participating in ministry and serving in public office.

To find out more about volunteering or any of the organizations that Chloe is involved in you can research through the following websites: Campus Crusade for CHRIST is not described as a "volunteer organization," however everything that we do is in service to others: Our weekly meetings are designed to build others up spiritually first and then mentally/intellectually ; Discipleship and Bible studies are just the same, but on a more personal level.
